10 reviews for STICKWELDER 162 D

  1. Peter Westby

First Impression. I had been shopping for an entry level dual voltage welder for months. It seems that most of the entry level welders, including those from the big names in welding, are made in China. Many share reviews that the electrode holder and work clamp are flimsy and need replacement. In reading reviews I came across a reviewer who mentioned a Canaweld stick welder. Said it worked well and had high quality components. I checked it out. Found it is made in Canada. And it was inexpensive. I ordered the 161 DU stick welder, Canaweld’s entry level machine, and just unboxed it today. I am very impressed with the quality. The work clamp and electrode holder are high quality and are attached to 12′ leads of heavy duty wire. Everything that I can see appears to be very solid and much better than many other entry level stick welders that I looked at. The machine will do lift arc tig as well. I bought this machine to repair items around the house, to build metal projects and to learn to weld better. I have been struggling with a very cheap low power AC machine. I can’t wait to use this new welder!

  2. Dan Lytle

Purchased 161D welder in Sept.2020, through Amazon. Was looking a portable stick welder for personal use, that I could use with 120 v. I was looking for a welder made in Canada, an not off shore. This welder was exactly what I was looking for. The welder works great , it is of very good quality an sturdly built. The cables and clamps are what you would expect from a much more expensive machine. The storage case is great but the zipper not so great. All in all this welder works great .I would recommend it .

  3. Sam

Bought this welder few months ago. weld beautifully. I’ll be ordering TIG welder from them soon. Good to have Canadian made machines finally.

  4. John

  5. Jane M

  6. Ariel Gomez

Easy to use for a beginners like me..

  7. Thomas

I love how sturdy the construction of the machine and the thick wiring look. The connectors
are those used in high amperage equipment. The ground clamp and electrode holder are
large and strong. I love it.

  8. Sinay

I ordered this welder a few weeks ago. It arrived a couple days later, it is small and light which is important to me. I laid down a few rods and I am very happy. the built-in hot start arc ignition and anti-sticking functions (both automatic) are making things much easier for me. I am very happy with my purchase so far…

  9. Jackobe

I believe its decent machine. it welds really smooth. I have used different welders. This one will do the trick for you.

  10. Darren

Tha machine can do lift arc tig as well. I bought this machine to repair some items arround the house, to do some metal projects. It is awesome.
